Biochemical methods are used in all branches of biological sciences and biotechnology. Biochemical experiments are conducted in the laboratory as practicals as well as for pursuing research. A researcher has to refer to many journals and books before he/she could get to the working protocol for his/her experiment. This book attempts to give often-used methods in a single volume.
The third edition of 'Biochemical Methods' is divided into 13 chapters. Each experiments include introduction, principle, materials, procedure and calculation. At the end of each procedure, references for additional reading are provided. Important precautions, warnings and tips are given under the Notes section. In addition, there are 6 appendices, which give minute details on basic chemistry, buffer preparations and other aspects required for the conduct of the experiments.
The methods given in the book will be useful for conducting practical classes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, agricultural sciences, environmental science, botany, zoology, nutrition, pharmaceutical science and other biology-related subjects. About the Author: |
Dr. S. Sadasivam secured M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Madras and has been teaching since 1968. He had post doctorate training at the University of Florida and University of California. He has published 9 books in Biochemistry and Biotechnology. He has 235 research publications to his credit. Dr. S. Sadasivam has organized two international workshops on ``Technique in Molecular Biology`` and two international conferences apart from national events.
Dr. A. Manickam, after his M.Sc. degree from University of Madras, took his Ph.D degree in 1980 from the Catholic University of Leuven Belgium. He has published 125 research papers and 3 books. He has 34 years of teaching and research experience. He had his post doctorate training at International Rice Reseach Institute, Manila, The Philippines and was a visiting scientist at Asian Vegetable Research and Development Centre, Taiwan.
