About the Book:

The book is designed to serve as a basic text for students of physics at the graduate and postgraduate levels. It presents a coherent, comprehensive account of the fundamentals of electromagnetic theory. The primary concern of the book is to enable the student to obtain a satisfactory intuitive grasp of the subject, to make him realise that the subject is relevant and useful and to encourage him to develop some facilities in its use. The book bridges the gap between highly mathematical works and the very elementary introductions of the subject. In this edition arguments in some cases have been expanded to improve the clarity; new sections on some topics of importance have been added; and additional fully worked examples to bring out some subtle points have been included. With these modifications the book will be most useful not only to students of physics, engineering and applied mathematics but also to those working in other allied fields.

About the Author:

B.B. Laud obtained his doctorate in Physics in 1951 at the Bombay University, Mumbai. Professor B.B. Laud taught at the University of Poona from 1953 to 1965. In 1965 he joined the Marathwada University as Professor and Head of the Department of Physics, a position he held until his retirement. Credited to him are numerous research papers and five books. He worked as Chairman of All India Convention of Spectroscopists for seven successive years and is a Founder Fellow of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences. The book grew out of his long experience in teaching to postgraduate courses in electromagnetic theory.
