About the Author: |
Dr. S.O. Pillai joined the department of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu in 1960 as a senior lecturer. He moved to the main campus of the present Anna University in 1976 and retired as professor in 1998. Dr. Pillai has guided many M.Sc and M.Phil students in their projects out of whom two have done Ph.D. Authoring forty five research papers in the fields of Ultrasonics and Materials Science is the other independent contribution of Dr. Pillai. Feedback on his ability and capacity in teaching with dedication and inspiration from his students fetched him Dr. Radhakrishnan Best teacher award for the year 1990. The citation and a special communication from the contemporary then Governer of Tamil Nadu, Thiru Mohanlal Sukhdia for Pillai?s voluntary blood donation for about ten times since 1960 are other recognition to him for his social work.
