About the Book:

The book specifically covers the syllabi of West Bengal University of Technology and particularly written for the students of different Engineering Colleges as well as Universities. The contents of the book include all the fundamental topics of Inorganic, Organic, Industrial and Physical Chemistry in brief. Recently WBUT has introduced Practical Chemistry in the syllabus which has also been given in it. The topics are discussed very lucidly to make it student-friendly. The important portions of each topic are highlighted, probable questions and numerical problems have been solved and included in the book for the benefit of students.


About the Author:

Raghupati Mukhopadhyay has done B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry from University of Calcutta and M.Tech. with first class from University College of Science & Technology, University of Calcutta in 1968. In 1969 he has served as a senior Research Fellow of C.S.I.R. in the Dept. of Applied Chemistry, C.U.. He has done Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1977, and joined Dey-se-Chem., Ltd. as Chief Chemist. He has served at Raja Peary Mohan College, Hooghly, West Bengal as an Associate Professor in Chemistry in 1982 and as guest lecturer in the Dept. of Chemical Technology, University of Calcutta in the same year. He has guided many research projects both of fundamental and industrial nature. He has published more than fifteen research papers in reputed national journals and authored more than twelve books. He is a Fellow of Indian Chemical Society and All India Institute of Chemists. Moreover he is also acting as an Associate Editor and Council Member of the journal.


Sriparna Datta has done B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry from Presidency College, Calcutta and M.Tech. from University College of Science & Technology, University of Calcutta in 1984. She has served as a Production Executive (R & D) at Smith Stanistreet Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in 1984 for thirteen years. Within the same year she has also been serving as a guest lecturer in the Dept. of Chemical Technology, (University of Calcutta). She has done Ph.D. (Tech.) in 2005 and authored more than fifteen research papers. Presently she serves as an Associate Professor in the same department and guides Ph.D. as well as research projects of B.Tech. and M.Tech. students. She is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London along with Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Indian Pharmacy Graduates Association, All India Institute of Chemists and Institute of Chemical Engineers. She is the Life Member as well as Associate Editor of Indian Chemical Society.
